Set up newsletter email

Newsletters use the website owner's SMTP service. They do not use the normal Nune transactional mail service.

Before you begin

Ask the email provider for the SMTP host, username, password, port and security method. Use a sender address on a domain you control.

The provider should also explain how to add SPF, DKIM and DMARC DNS records. These improve deliverability.

Add the settings

  1. Open Site Settings.
  2. Find Newsletter SMTP.
  3. Enter the Newsletter from email and name.
  4. Enter the SMTP host, username and password.
  5. Choose the supplied port and security method.
  6. Select Save Site.

Send a small test newsletter before using a full subscriber list. Check its links, unsubscribe option, inbox placement and mobile layout.

If it does not work

Confirm that the mailbox allows SMTP sending and that the password is not an app-specific password you have missed. A successful website-email test does not test the separate newsletter SMTP account.
