Media and galleries
Choose an image from the Media Library
The Media Library is the shared home for your website's images, videos and files. Selecting an existing item avoids uploading duplicate copies.
Choose an image while editing
- Select the image or media button beside the field you are editing.
- Find the image in the Media Library.
- Select it to open the preview.
- Check the image and its details.
- Use the selection button to add it to the page, gallery or component.
On mobile, the item details are available from the slide-out details panel so the image and selection controls remain usable.
Upload a new image
You can drag a file into the Media Library gallery view or use its upload area. Wait for processing to finish before selecting the new item.
Before uploading:
- choose a clear, good-quality image;
- use a meaningful title and alternative text;
- avoid uploading the same image more than once;
- make sure you have permission to publish it.
Use an image in a shortcode
The shortcode picker can open the Media Library and insert the chosen image for you. If you are writing a shortcode manually, open the image preview and select its clickable ID to copy the complete shortcode-ready value.
Example:
[image media_id="42" size="large" align="center" caption="1"]
Replace 42 only when manually choosing a different Media Library item.
Choose the image size
The shortcode picker provides these image sizes:
- Small keeps the image within a compact width.
- Medium gives the image more space without making it full width.
- Large suits prominent images while retaining their natural proportions.
- Full width fills the available width while retaining the image's natural proportions.
- Match adjacent section crops the image to fill the height of the text or other content beside it in a split or grid layout.
Use Match adjacent section when you want an image and neighbouring text panel to finish at the same height. On mobile, the columns stack and the image returns to its natural proportions.
If it does not work
- If the upload is still processing, wait and reopen the picker.
- If the wrong image appears, remove the selection and choose the correct item again.
- If an image looks soft, choose a larger source image rather than stretching a small thumbnail.
- If a published image is broken, report the affected page and image to support rather than repeatedly uploading replacements.
