Manage product variations and options

Use an option for a choice within one version of a product, such as Framed or Unframed. Use a variation for another version that needs its own price, stock or shipping, such as Original, Print or Digital.

Create a variation type

  1. Open Shop > Variations.
  2. Enter the variation type name and select Add.
  3. Edit or delete reusable types from the list when needed.

You can also create a new variation type while editing a product.

Add options to the main product

  1. Open the product for editing.
  2. Under Options for the main/default product, select Add option.
  3. Enter the option name.
  4. Choose Amount or Percentage and enter its adjustment.
  5. Use 0 for no price change, a positive value to increase the price or a negative value to reduce it.

For example, an original painting can use Unframed with 0 and Framed with a positive adjustment.

Add a variation

  1. In Variations, select Add Variation Type.
  2. Choose its type and add one or more options if required.
  3. Choose Use main price, Adjust main price or Set fixed price.
  4. Enter the variation stock and choose its shipping profile, or use the main product shipping.
  5. Save the product and test every public choice.

Stock belongs to the main product or variation. Options change the selected price but do not hold separate stock.
